Kenneth Kaunda Airport Nears Completion
Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA) is nearing completion, according to Zambia Airports Corporation Limited (ZACL).
It is hoped that on completion, which is expected within this quarter, the airport will be a hub for the Southern African region. It is currently 92% complete.
Mr Mondoloka, ZACL Managing Director, said during an interview that they hope to make the airport a “fitting tribute to the man it is named after.”
Constructed by China Jiangxi Corporation at a cost of $360 million, it will contain a hotel, rescue and fire services station and air traffic control tower amongst other features. It will also have airlines such as Ethiopian Airlines and Emirates operate out of it.
