New Dawn Government Fulfils Manifesto Promise Having Released Full Education Grants
The New Dawn government have fulfilled their manifesto promise by releasing the final instalment of education grants.
Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane, Finance and National Planning Minister announced that K442.2 million has been released marking the final grant allocated under the free education programme.
Following the New Dawn government’s victory in August 2021, the government announced their plans to provide free education from preschool up to the secondary school level.
The grants are released within the first few weeks of each quarter to ensure that schools can continue their operations.
Since this decision, the government has released the funds in quarterly amounts.
The first disbursement, released in January this year, amounted to K323.8 million; the second came in at K398 million; the third, which was released in July amounted to K611 million.
Overall, the New Dawn government have allocated K1.8 billion in school grants.
