President Hichilema To Chair Industrial Development Corporation

The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) has unveiled a new board of directors, with President Hakainde Hichilema to serve as its new chairman.

In a statement released yesterday, the IDC announced that the new board would be appointed with immediate effect. Other members include Finance Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane, Agriculture Minister Reuben Mtolo Phiri, and Commerce Minister Chipoka Mulenga.

The IDC is a government agency tasked with developing Zambia’s domestic industrial capacity and creating jobs, particularly in the agriculture, tourism, manufacturing and mining sectors. According to its website, the Corporation identifies investment opportunities for sector development in line with policy objectives and plays a catalysing role in developing new projects.

The announcement of a new board comes shortly after President Hichilema dismissed the IDC’s CEO Mateyo Kaluba following his arrest by the Anti-Corruption Commission.
