President HH Welcomes The First Major EU Delegation Since 2013

President Hakainde Hichilema has welcomed an EU delegation ahead of the Zambia EU Economic Forum today.

The delegation met with the president during a courtesy that was headed by the EU Agriculture Commissioner, H.E. Janusz Wojciechowski.

The meeting is the first time a high-level EU meeting has taken place in Zambia since 2013 and reflects a positive step forward in bilateral relations between the trading block and Zambia.

During the courtesy call, the delegates discussed how Zambian food production can be utilised to support global supplies as the war in Ukraine restricts global access to food products.

The meetings will hopefully produce the first steps in a trade agreement which could enhance Zambian jobs, increase incomes and push economic growth within the country.

Following the meetings yesterday, there will be further meetings between the EU and Zambia today, with the aim to encourage food production and bilateral relations.
