Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) has received $395 million for drought response

The National Coordinator for the DMMU, Gabriel Pollen, has drawn attention to the financial support from cooperating partners in aid of Zambia’s drought response.

He revealed that next week, Zambia will pay out $13 million from the African Risk Capacity under a drought insurance cover.

Mr. Pollen said, “It’s been great. We have an indicative figure in terms of how much money has come but overall, we have about $395 million from cooperating that is direct budget support or in the context of the current drought.

The DMMU focuses on strengthening the national capacity for national disaster resilience, prevention, response, mitigation and restoration.
