German ambassador pledges support for Zambia's climate change adaptation
In a breakfast meeting on climate change adaptation held in Lusaka today, German Ambassador Anne Wagner Mitchelle reaffirmed her country's commitment to supporting Zambia's efforts in combating the effects of climate change.
Ambassador Mitchelle emphasised Germany's readiness to provide immediate and effective adaptation measures to help Zambia cope with the challenges posed by changing climate patterns.
She highlighted the importance of utilising the climate risk analysis for adaptation planning in Zambia's agricultural sector, stating that this research would be instrumental in formulating effective strategies.
The timing of this support is particularly significant as Zambia grapples with a drought that has impacted various sectors of its economy.
In response to this, Dr Douty Chibamba, Permanent Secretary for Green Economy and Environment, stressed the urgency of proactive planning and the adoption of climate-smart techniques.
