Nurse Arrested Over Charges of Slapping a Patient to Death

Charles Mazyopa, a nurse working at Lundazi District Hospital, has been apprehended by the police for allegedly slapping a patient to death.

 Latest reports suggest that the police have identified the deceased as 30 year-old Christopher Theo, of Diwa Compound, Lundazi. 

Zambia Police spokesperson Rea Hamoonga has delivered a statement with a concise summary of the facts of the situation so far. The deceased was admitted to hospital on 25th October 2021, but on 2nd November 2021, the accused slapped the deceased twice.

He later started bleeding through his nostrils and died hours later.

Mr. Hamoonga also added that the state pathologist is making arrangements for exhumation, as the deceased had already been buried by relatives without a postmortem. 

Hamoonga concluded this brief statement by saying that the police are investigating the matter further.
