Mposhi Man In Custody After Beating Young Son
On the February 4 2021 a 33 year old father was accused of assaulting his son and causing bodily harm by whipping the minor with a mulberry stick after the teenager was suspected of stealing money.
Mwape, the accused, appeared in Kapiri Mposhi Magistrate court recently, charged with one count of Assault on a Child, contrary to section 248 A Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
The father pleaded not guilty to the allegations and Magistrate Edward Banda has subsequently adjourned the matter to Match 24 2021 when Mwape will face trial.
Five witnesses will testify against the plea, including the minor and his mother.
The accused remains in custody.
This comes after a 34 year old man has been sentenced to one year in jail with hard labour for assaulting his wife.
The man pleaded guilty to the offence which accused him of lashing his wife with a metal chain and punching her with his fists after suspecting her of infidelity.
It is hoped that the custodial sentence will give the man chance to reform.
