Lusaka National Park Adds Impala, Zebra, Giraffes, and Rhinos

The Ministry of Tourism has begun the first phase of restocking the Lusaka National Park with wildlife in order to increase tourism.

Tourism Minister, Rodney Sikumba, oversaw the release of 12 Axis Deer, 14 Impala, and 2 Zebra from the park's holding centre.

Sikumba said that the restocking efforts will continue alongside additional measures aimed at bolstering the park's appeal to tourists. During a visit to Lusaka National Park, Sikumba spoke about the challenges faced by animals, such as insufficient water sources due to the recent drought, which led the ministry to install industrial boreholes for sustainability.

The park also recently added 6 baby giraffes and rhinos.

Nicholas Woolley, the British High Commissioner to Zambia, stated that the British government will continue its support for Zambian tourism by encouraging more international visitors.

The National Parks and Wildlife Director, Dominic Chiinde, said that their team remains dedicated to safeguarding and preserving our national parks, warning encroachers and poachers that they will not be tolerated.
