Apostle Dr. Obrian Mayambu urges the Church to remain non-partisan
Speaking today live on radio, Apostle Obrian Mayambu said the church should refrain from allowing politicians to use church premises for any political messaging.
Mayambu is the leader of Battle Cry for Zambia, a Christian faith-based organisation with a mandate to establish Prayer Alter. The organisation frequently airs live prayers on Radio Christian Voice and other media stations across the country.
He emphasised that the role of the Church is crucially to bring together Christians who are affiliated to all different political parties, and it is therefore not right that the Church should facilitate political rallying within its walls.
Kingdom Springs of Life Senior Pastor, Trevour Muziya has voiced support to Obrian Mayambu saying that church gatherings must not be used for political gains. He clarified that the church is a sacred place of God.
Any form of political campaigning from a church pulpit goes against the fundamental Christian concept of bringing people together as an independent authority which can provide support and relief to many people. In times of crisis when the nation is facing collective challenges caused by the drought, this becomes all the more important.
