President Hichilema Awarded Honorary Doctorate By Valley View University, Ghana
President Hakainde Hichilema attended the 29th Congregation Ceremony of Valley View University in Accra as the guest of honour, where he was bestowed an honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters in recognition of his unwavering dedication to democratic principles, his strong economic reforms, and his initiative in advancing a comprehensive economic agenda in Zambia.
Robert Osei-Bonsu, chancellor of Valley View University, announced the honour whilst applauding Hichilema's political career and his capacity to connect with people and comprehend their problems in order to solve them.
Thanking the university for the honour on Facebook, Hichilema wrote: “We were delighted to note that Valley View University recognizes the crucial role of promoting values such as Excellence and Integrity as a means to prevent conflicts and foster a more harmonious society.”
In accepting the award, Hichilema stressed the necessity of investing in children's education, regardless of their background, and the need to diversify the education system in Africa so that citizens may establish their own economies.
Additionally, in response to many social media users congratulating the president as ‘Doctor’, Hichilema emphasised: ‘We accept and cherish the honour but the official title remains Mr President.’
