Electoral Commission to Increase Voter Registration Centres
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) held an engagement meeting with stakeholders in the electoral process to discuss ideas on the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), which will be launched on 4th June. The ECZ will increase the number of districts which are conducting CVR from 20 to 30 nationwide.
The Commission has a constitutional mandate to oversee the electoral process and ensure that the stakeholders perform their various roles in electoral activities.
It is striving to make the electoral process accessible for the electorate. This is an important foundational action ahead of the 2026 General Election.
Speaking at the conference Mwangala Zaloumis, chairperson of the ECZ, said “we should not cry foul after the election if you have not ensured that your people are registered as voters and that they exercise their fundamental right.”
The District Electoral Officer, Bupe Mustanya, said in an address “we are a part of the 30 districts where continuous voter registration will be undertaken in Zambia.”
Adam Jere, the Muchinga Provincial Electoral Officer advised all stakeholders to alert their members about the launch of the CVR on Tuesday so people are aware and part of the electoral processes.
