The Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Final Day
Today is the final day of the 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
In his meeting with Liu Jiachao, Minister of the International Department and member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), President Hichilema emphasised the need to actualise President Xi Jinping’s 10-point partnership action plan with Africa.
The President also reiterated Zambia’s appreciation to China for supporting the debt restructuring endeavour under the G20 framework.
President Hichilema expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of Zambia to the delegation for China's continued support in infrastructure development. He specifically acknowledged the concession agreement signed at FOCAC for the Tanzania-Zambia Railway. “This will not only enhance trade in Zambia but also with our region,” the President wrote on Facebook.
“For Zambia, our Founding President, Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda, together with President Dr. Mwalimu Nyerere of the United Republic of Tanzania, forged a historic partnership with China. This collaboration set a benchmark and inspired the entire continent,” the President continued.
As leader of the UPND, the President took the opportunity to reaffirm the party’s commitment to its partnership with the Communist Party of China and expressed optimism for continued collaboration.
This morning, President Hichilema continues to engage with the China Datang Corporation, a power generation enterprise in Beijing.
