FAZ Facing Challenges In Getting Covid-19 Results On Time
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) says it is facing challenges in getting Covid-19 test results on time.
The announcement comes after 28 players and staff in the Zambian Super League team Forest Rangers tested positive for the virus on Saturday, forcing the FAZ to suspend the league once more.
FAZ Super League Manager Brian Mulenga says the delays are due to the Ministry of Health being overwhelmed by the number of tests it is carrying out nationwide.
He told ZNBC Sports that all Super League teams had been tested but that not all the results had come back yet.
Mr Mulenga confirmed that midweek fixtures this week would go on as scheduled since none of the teams involved had reported cases of Covid-19.
He added that a final decision on the cancelled fixture between Forest Rangers and Zanaco this weekend would be made in the coming days.
Rangers’ club spokesperson Christina Zulu said on social media that “we are ready to play, our game with Zanaco will go ahead as scheduled. That is our understanding.”
