Shepolopolo Win Bronze At COSAFA Womens Cup

Shepolopolo have won bronze at the 2021 COSAFA Women’s Championship after beating hosts South Africa in the third and fourth playoffs.

Zambia on Saturday beat South Africa 4-3 in penalties after a 1-1 draw at full time.

Lushomo Mweemba, Esther Namukwasa, Ochumba Lubanji and Milika Limwanya converted Zambia’s three kicks and Patricia Lampi missed hers.

Banyana Banyana, South Africa Women National Football team, missed Cesane and Holweni kicks while Van Wyk Ballot, Salgado Ballot and Mokwena converted theirs.

Zambia played a strong game, with Sibulele Holweni only equalising for South Africa 14 minutes from full time.

Coach Bruce Mwape’s side will come back home with four wins and one loss against Tanzania in the semi-finals.

Zambia, who were unbeaten in Group C, scored ten goals and conceded only two times.
