Patson Hits Four in Leicester Comeback Win
Patson Daka was in magnificent form on Wednesday night as his four goals brought Leicester back from two goals down to win 4-3 against Spartak Moscow.
In what turned out to be a thrilling European encounter, Chipolopolo striker Daka was ultimately the difference between the two sides, turning in a breathtaking forward’s performance away from home.
Carrying on his goal-scoring form from the weekend’s game against Manchester United, Patson took all four of his goal with great composure and skill, becoming the first Leicester player to score four in a single match since 1958.
His first strike was a credit to his pace and reading of the game, beating Spartak’s high defensive line to get in behind and side-foot past home goalkeeper Maksimenko from Kelechi Iheanacho’s through ball.
The second also demonstrated great understanding again with his strike partner Iheanacho, as the Nigeria international played Patson in for a tap in within the six-yard box.
Finally the third and fourth goals were taken in similarly cool and incisive fashion to one another, both powerful, low finishes from the left hand side of the eighteen-yard box.
It was clear to see what these goals meant to Daka, 23, as he celebrated the hat trick with a flip by the corner-flag before looking up to the heavens.
He also took to Twitter after the game to add, “‘When the time is right, I the Lord will make it happen’ – ISAIAH 60:22”
It is difficult not to get excited at the young striker’s potential after the week he has had, scoring 5 goals in 2 games against quality opposition, and one suspects this will prove to be the springboard upon which a successful individual season is built.
