Mwepu could be back in action this weekend

Zambia’s national team midfielder Enock Mwepu is nearing a return to the pitch after a frustrating two months with injury.

Brighton and Hove Albion boss Graham Potter says Mwepu has had a frustrating time with injuries and illness will train tomorrow and he hopes he will finish the season strong.

Mwepu was removed midway through the first half of Brighton's 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup in January.

“Enock’s had a really frustrating time, illness and injury has set him back,” Potter said in a press conference on Thursday.

“He’ll train tomorrow. It’s fantastic to have him nearly back and hopefully he’ll finish the season strong.”

Due to a thigh injury, the former NAPSA Stars and Redbull Salzburg player has missed the Seagulls' previous eight games.

Mwepu is anticipated to be named to the matchday squad when Brighton and Hove Albion travel to Newcastle United on Saturday, looking to break a run of three successive defeats.
