President Has Walked Away From COVID-19 Vaccine – Changala

Good governance activist Brebner Changala has demonstrated his concern around the lack of attention which the COVID-19 vaccine is receiving in the country, subsequently resulting in poor uptake of the vaccine programme.

The lethality of COVID-19, combined with President Lungu’s apparent lack of interest in marketing the benefits of receiving vaccination against the disease, has caused Changala a great amount of worry.

Speaking recently, after obtaining the vaccine himself, Changala spoke of the poor turnout for the vaccination programme which started on April 13, which he believes is down to the lack of publicity which the vaccine is receiving.

“It [COVID-19 vaccine] is not receiving the attention that it is supposed to receive, knowing very well this pandemic is lethal. The publicity is not there; it’s weak,”.

Changala believes that President Lungu is thought to blame for this.

“But what has happened is that our President has literally walked away from this vaccine; he doesn’t talk about it.”

He continued in saying “…the Head of State, he’s a very disappointing leader. COVID is now like a war, and it needs a leader to lead his own people to defeat an enemy.”

To encourage greater uptake of the vaccine, Changala has offered himself as a flagbearer to demonstrate the importance of the vaccine.

“I, Brebner Changala, I have offered myself to be a flagbearer to inspire my generation and the young generation that they must go forward and get vaccinated, protect themselves, put on the mask” he said.
