PRESIDENT HICHILEMA THANKED FOR EMPOWERING ZAMBIANS THROUGH MINING OPPORTUNITIES

Following yesterday’s praise from the Zambia Association of Manufacturers, President Hakainde Hichilema has been thanked by the Minerals Association of Zambia (ESMAZ).

The association thanked the president for empowering Zambians by enabling them to obtain mining licences.

Charles Silomba, Wusakile Ward Councillor, explained that the policy will help Zambians both own mines and aid the development of small-scale mines.

Additionally, ESMAZ president, Victor Kalesha, said that the move will reduce the number of potential profits from the mining sector being exported out of Zambia by multinational firms.

 

ZAMBIA AND DRC SIGN MOU TO BUILD POWER PLANT ON LUAPULA RIVER

Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to revive previous plans to construct a power station in the Luapula River Basin.

The plans include the construction of 1,000-MW power stations and a new power interconnector along the river.


CHIPOLOPOLO TO KNOW COSAFA CUP DRAW ON JUNE 14

The Chipolopolo Zambia team will find out about their 2022 COSAFA draw on June 14.

The draws will be made in this year’s host city of Durban.

The team has had an endless wait after the original draw day was postponed from May 31st to tomorrow.

The tournament will include 12 teams, omitting the Zimbabwe team who is currently serving a FIFA ban from international competitions.
