Govt Procures Key Medical Drugs

Chansa Kunda/Blessing Chibuye-Government says procurement of 15 key medical supplies has been undertaken to address the shortage of drugs in public health facilities.

Acting Health Minister AMBROSE LUFUMA says some of the drugs procured are Anti-cancer medicine, Anti-retroviral and Anti-malarial.
Mr. LUFUMA says the total procurement was budgeted at over 2-hundred and 17 million kwacha with delivery set to commence this month.

He said this in parliament when he gave a ministerial statement on the drug situation in the country and measures being put in place.

And Responding to Kabushi Member of parliament BOWMAN LUSAMBO who asked on the procedure used to award the named 15 contracts, Mr. LUFUMA said regulations that govern procurement procedures were followed.
