GOVERNMENT OUTLINES PLANS TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT

Elijah Muchima, Minister of the Green Economy and Environment, outlined that the New Dawn Government will enhance environmental protection measures to help protect the country’s biodiversity.

The programs include the Plant a Million Trees and Keep Zambia Clean, Green, and Healthy campaigns.

The news came during the celebration of World Environment Day on Monday which was held under the theme of “Only One Earth.”

The Minister explained, “It only takes a quick look around and you will witness evidence of environmental degradation that has befallen our land.”

DEC HANDS OVER NINE CARS SUSPECTED TO BE BOUGHT FOR CORRUPT PRACTICES

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has consigned nine vehicles belonging to the Workers Compensation Fund Control Board (WCFCB) that had been used by the Patriotic Front.

The cars were supposedly used for a ‘survey consignment in the run-up of last year’s general election.

Following the consignment of the vehicles, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an investigation into the matter.

 

GOVERNMENT ADDRESS BOTTLENECKS FOR CDF

The New Dawn government has outlined plans to ease the bottlenecks which are currently restricting access to the Constituency Development Funds (CDF).

The announcement came from Mukuli Chikuba, acting Secretary to the Treasury when addressing public concerns over the funds.

He encouraged officers to adhere to government policy in the procurement process of CDF which will ensure the right prices, quantity, and delivery time for the funds.
