SADC Peacekeeping Vital for Stability, Says President Hichilema
President Hichilema said the Southern African Development Community (SADC) must prioritise maintaining peace in the region in order to allow for economic and social development for the 16 member states.
The President—who is also Chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence, and Security Cooperation—met with a delegation from the SADC at State House today. The members received Situation Reports from Heads of Mission and Ground Commanders of the SADC missions in the Cabo Delgado Province Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The reports detailed the peacekeeping progress made in the Cabo Delgado Province of Mozambique and the Eastern DRC. President Hichilema praised the organisation’s missions, stating that such interventions are vital to preserve peace and safety in the regions.
Kula Theletsane, the SADC Director of Politics, Defence, and Security Cooperation, thanked President Hichilema for his commitment to fostering stability in the regions and working towards a peaceful solution.
