President Hichilema: “Africa needs to push for early childhood education”
On 16 July, a delegation from the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) visited State House to discuss the agenda for early childhood education.
The President has repeatedly emphasised the importance of investment in education, with a focus on early childhood to ensure there is open access and sustainable financing.
Hichilema is the Champion for Foundational Learning and has stressed the need for the continent as a whole to work on a basic minimum policy so that children across Africa receive an education.
The ADEA Executive Sceretary, Albert Nsengiyumvwa called for the entire continent to come together in a collective effort to invest in the education sector.
Meanwhile in the private sector, the Special Assistant to the President for Finance and Investments Jito Kayumba visited Maamba Private primary school on 16 July. The school is funded by Maamba Collieries and provides an education to over 700 learners.
Mr Kayumba said, “When we have a desire to do something, let us just pursue it. And, if we commit ourselves to it, we will do well in it. And those limitations are social constructs, they are limited by what society says.”
