President Hichilema Seeks Dialogue with Edgar Lungu
In a recent address at the 125th anniversary celebration of the Reformed Church in Zambia, President Hichilema announced his intention to engage in dialogue with his predecessor, Edgar Lungu. He emphasised the importance of unity, tolerance, and mutual respect, the president highlighted the potential of achieving significant progress through collaboration.
“We ask the Reformed Church of Zambia to continue uniting our people… we will do our part to reach out to our colleagues, including ECL himself, so that we can talk to each other,” Hichilema stated. He stressed that conflict and disunity are detrimental to society, advocating for a peaceful and cooperative approach to governance.
He underscored the need for collective efforts to support affected communities and enhance agricultural resilience.
In a similar vein, Hichilema also recognised the broader role of the church in fostering peace and stability, urging religious leaders to work alongside the government in serving the nation. “We are partners with the church, we are not competition,” he affirmed, advocating for a united front in overcoming national hardships.
