Chipolopolo Set for Benin Clash on Sunday
The Zambian national football team will travel to Cotonou for their clash against Benin on Sunday.
The last leg of their two-game tour of West Africa, The Copper Bullets will be hoping that a victory in Benin will provide them with the momentum they need as they come in towards the back end of the African Nations Championship qualifiers.
This will be the second game Zambia will have played this week. Earlier they were held to a 1-1 draw with Niger on Wednesday.
Large parts of the game were fairly stationary, with neither side able to penetrate the others defence. The visitors did, however, break the deadlock in the 71st minute through their captain Cletus Chama; although Niger nullified this lead with an agonising 87th minute equaliser.
Chipolopolo have been on a fantastic run thus far in the qualifiers, having not lost any of their games. They currently have a 1-0 lead against Eswatini, who will travel to the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka for the return leg on 18th October.
The 2020 African Nations Championship will be the 6th time the tournament has been played and is to be held in Cameroon. The biennial championship is held every even year, alternating with the Africa Cup of Nations.
Last time round Morocco came out victorious, although Zambia will no doubt be hoping to spoil the party.
