Zambia concede late to draw against Benin

Zambia national team allowed a late goal to end their tour of West Africa with a 2-2 draw with the Squirrels of Benin in an international friendly match played at the Stade Charles de Gaulle in Porto-Novo this afternoon.

Coach Aggrey Chiyangi made nine changes from the squad that was held to a 1-1 draw by the Menãs of Niger.

SHONGA BRACE

Zambia started off the match well and took the lead in the 21st minute thanks to a Justin Shonga strikes. Huddersfield Town striker Stevie Mounie headed home a minute to half time to level matters.

In the second half, Benin had a chance to take the lead in the 67th minute but Sessegnon Stephane aimed his effort direct at Mwange who saved it with ease. Shonga put Zambia in the lead in the 76th minute to complete his brace but once again failed to protect their lead as Adeoti Jordan leveled matters to make sure the two teams ended with a 2-2 draw.

MWENYA CHIBWE DEBUT

Chiyangi made a number of changes in the second half. Sebastian Mwange goes out for Mwenya Chibwe who comes in to make his debut. Clatous Chama, Augustine Mulenga and Salulani Phiri came on to replace Bruce Musakanya, Emmanuel Chabula and Larry Bwalya respectively.

Polokwane City goalkeeper Cyril Mwenya Chibwe came on to replace Sebastian Mwange in the 75th minute to make his Chipolopolo debut.
