Volleyball Leagues Cancelled
The Zambia Volleyball Association (ZAVA) has announced the cancellation of all national and provincial leagues due to the increase in Covid-19 cases.
Following an executive meeting on Saturday, ZAVA secretary general Gift Chisekela said the national tournament will still take place but has been moved to the weekend of 5th-6th December. Similarly the Western Province beach volleyball tour has been postponed until the third week of November.
Refereeing and coaching courses will also take place this year, however ZAVA says it will continue to review its activities in light of the rising number of Covid-19 cases.
As of Tuesday morning Zambia has had 12,836 cases, with 295 deaths.
In the meantime, Mr Chisekela has encouraged teams to keep busy and play friendly games - so long as they comply with national health guidelines. He also urged clubs to make sure their premisses complied with Covid-19 protocols, issued by the department of health.
