KCM Donates Over K5 Million For Nchanga South Hospital Renovations
Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) has opened the doors of the newly renovated Out-Patient Department (OPD) at the Nchanga South Hospital after it had been renovated using the K5.3 million that had been donated by KCM.
The opening of the OPD is the first step in renovating the entire hospital to modernise the facility.
New features within the department include automatic-sensor-operated doors at the entrance and taps in the bathrooms, upgrading the pharmacy, emergency and records rooms and the creation of the brought-in-dead section.
The new department was opened by Celine Nair who was guest of honour at the opening event.
She outlined that the donation shows the dedication of KCM to care for its employees and committees.
She also announced that the company would donate a further $108,000 to combat malaria. This will include spraying over 44,000 households in Chingola, Chililabombwe, Kitwe and Nampundwe over the next two months.
