Tanzanian National Charged With Threatening To Shoot Zambian Soldiers
A Tanzanian national has pleaded not guilty to threatening violence and attempting to shoot and run over Zambian Army officials during their routine training near the Commando Unit.
The man in question is Samir Sallah, 36, who lives in Lubuto west in Ndola and has been charged with threatening violence.
The incident occurred after Sallah was stopped by passing army officers whilst they conducted their routine training on the Mukolwe-Commando.
Following being signalled to stop, Sallah attempted to hit one of the soldiers on the road and then, when asked why he did not stop, became violent and produced a pistol shooting one shot in the air and another between the legs of the solider.
The pistol was later handed over to the police alongside two empty cartridges taken from the scene.
Although originally charged with attempted murder, the charges have been changed to threatening which is an equally serious offence.
Sallah appeared in court and denied the charges.
