IMF OPTIMISTIC THAT ZAMBIA AND CREDITORS WILL REACH AGREEMENT

The Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Antoniette Monsio Sayeh said that he was expecting the fund to provide some debt relief to Zambia.

He said that even if discussions conclude in a month, as the IMF board are on holiday until August, he said that the country’s efforts to deal with its debt sustainability problems will work in Zambia’s favour.

NATIONAL REGISTRATION CARDS NOT COMPULSORY TO ACCESS HEALTHCARE SAYS HEALTH DIRECTOR

Consity Mwale, Lusaka Province Health Director, has said that National Registration Cards or other such forms of identification are not compulsory to access healthcare.

Following allegations that a baby had died at Mtendere clinic over delayed care caused by lack of identification, the Director stated that it is not a requirement.  

The allegation is currently under investigation but the director had outlined that the baby and mother had been discharged in good health.

He did outline that for the registration of birth, NRC cards are needed.

ABUNDANCE OF FOOTBALL TALENT IN ZAMBIA- MBESUMA

Collins Mbesuma, the former Chipolopolo striker, has said that Zambia is never short of talented footballers.

In a statement, he said that the only challenge facing Zambia football is ensuring that this talent is nurtured and identified.

In a bid to do just that, the striker has organised a youth tournament next week at the Kafubu Stadium where 24 junior teams will participate.
