COMESA LAUNCHES AFRICA CLOUD ECOSYSTEM
The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) has agreed to launch the COMESA Africa Cloud Ecosystem project.
The project will create a state-of-the-art facility that can offer ICT systems to African states.
The project is backed by the Africa Development Bank.
12 HEADS OF STATE TO ATTEND AU MEETING
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has announced that the Africa Union (AU) mid-year Coordination Meeting will involve 12 heads of state.
He stated that there will be eight Regional Economic Communities in attendance. These include; the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA), Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD); East African Community (EAC), Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
Alongside this four of the Bureaus of the Assembly of the AU will be in attendance. The Eastern Region will not be in attendance due to internal consultations being taken within the area.
ZAMBIANS ENCOURAGED TO EMBRACE WORLD BANK AS PARTNER, SAYS PRESIDENT HICHILEMA
President Hakainde Hichilema has told Zambians to embrace the World Bank as a partner in ensuring the economic development of the country.
He stated that the Bank has been subject to misconceptions about its role but that this has now changed.
He said, “We are saying to the people of Zambia that the World Bank is not a foreign entity. The World Bank and the IMF these are not foreign entities, these are our entities and I think there’s some abuse on the definition of what the World Bank is.”
