BARBRA BANDA HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATED- HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH

Human Rights Watch has stated that Barbra Banda's human rights had been violated following a gender eligibility test taken before the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon).

The top Zambian footballer was ruled out of the competition due to a failure to pass the test.

The organisation stated, “Such sex testing procedures are flagrant human rights violations because they are stigmatizing, stereotyping and discriminatory.”

 

NGO BACKS SUSPENSION OF MANGANESE MINING IN SERENJE

CARE for Nature Zambia has backed the closure of various mining sites in Serenje and Mkushi by the government.

The NGO outlined that the offences that the mining companies in question have been committing are shocking.

The offences include effluent discharge into the open environment and the use of charcoal in the mining process.

 

PRESIDENT HICHILEMA CONGRATULATES SUCCESSFUL TEACHER APPLICANTS

President Hakainde Hichilema has congratulated the 30,000 teachers who were successful following the list of names released today.

He said, “This is just the beginning as we are fully aware of the hundreds of graduates still in the streets after years of employment stagnation. For now, this phase has had to absorb 30,000 among so many applicants, more work needs be done.”
